My overall experience undergoing training for the EC-Council Security Analyst course was a good one. For me, the course introduced me to the practical side of the information security world. The virtual labs exposed me to a real-world scenario that allowed me to face challenges and security issues I would witness in my organization.

As I was already a Certified Ethical Hacker, I had the basic knowledge of system security tools and methodologies. But the fact that I was now skilled and able to use the theoretical concepts and use those in the labs through a virtual environment in real-time though sounded a bit worrying turned out to be extremely exciting for me. With such hands-on practical sessions with challenges at every step, the course gave me the required practical experience on how to tackle real life security issues. A weakness or a drawback I found was that the vulnerabilities or exploits found in the challenges were a tad bit out-dated; a mix of new vulnerabilities and well established one’s would have been a bit more helpful.

Looking at my prospects as a pen tester, I surely believe the ECSA is definitely a step towards building my skills in the information security field as a much more qualified and skilled professional. If not I wouldn’t have put on the effort to attempt for this certification. Having discussed in detail with my friends and people I know in the field of information security about the know-how of the course, the response I received was a positive one. I’m certain the ECSA certification would give me a definite edge among my peers in today’s competitive market.

A special thanks to Shafeeque sir’s immense patience and dedication to his craft, he introduced me to this program as smooth as possible. As we say, ‘we are only as good as our teacher is’, holds true in my case.
